I took a class!

For the last couple of weeks I have been participating in the Spring Card Class from cardclasses.com.  You can still sign up now and go through all of the classes.I have had so much fun making tons of card backgrounds.  I did not get them all made into cards.  But I wanted to share the handful or so that I did make into cards.

On day 4 we did a technique called emboss resist with a twist.  I wasn't sure how you could put a twist on the emboss resist technique - but this is genius!  I combined this background with the hummingbird challenge from Spiltcoast for VSN Mini.  On the background, I used a rose stamp from Picket Fence Studios, and Nuvo Shimmer Powders.  My hummingbird is an image I turned into a cut file for my Cricut.  The greeting comes from the new Charming Sentiments stamp set and coordinating dies from Stampin' Up!

For Day 5 we did stamped wreaths, two ways.  My first one turned out to be more of a collage than a wreath, but I loved making it.  I used four different stamp sets, from 3 different companies to make this wreath / collage.  I used ocean sets from Spellbinders, and two from Hero Arts.  The fish, mermaid and greeting are from one of my newest favorite stamp lines.  These images are from the set Mermazing by Scrappy Boy stamps.  He has quite a few fun, fandom, line art stamp sets.
The second technique was kind of a reverse wreath.  I had a lot of fun with this one.  Clean and Simple is not usually my go to.  But this sweet simple card is so fun!  Everything used on this card is from Stampin' Up!.  I really enjoyed using the newest set of In Colors together for my wreath background.  I then used the set Happiness Abounds, with white embossing powder to add flowers to my colored wreath.  The greeting is stamped in black, and is also included in the same stamp set.  I decided to add a little embellishment using the new 22/24 In Color Matte Decorative Dots.

For day 6 we did two different types of color blocking techniques.  For my first card, I used a cover plate, and large greeting die from Concord & 9th.    I was feeling my inner Lisa Frank when I picked out my colors.  My cardstock is all from Stampin' Up!.

Our last color blocking technique also used a cover plate, but in a different way.  This card features only Stampin' Up! products.  I used the Stitched Greenery Die, and the Harvest Dies.  The Starry Sky metallic woven ribbon was taken apart into just threads that I used to accent the back of the greeting.  This is another greeting from the Charming Sentiments stamp set and coordinating dies.

For Day 9, there was a lesson on offset dies.  I had so much fun making this card.  I used a die from Gina Marie desgins, and 7 different colors of Stampin' Up! cardstock to make the thank you.  I offset mine a bit more than was done in the example but I love the way mine turned out.

Day 10 was our last day in class.  This day we focused on Rainbow Cards.  I used stamps and dies from Erin Lee Creative, and Stampin' Up! cardstock to make my rainbow of coffee.  These cute, floral little coffee cups just make my heart happy.

I wish I had made all of the lovely techniques we did into cards.  I would have loved to share more cards with you.  This class was a lot of fun, and I whole heartedly recommend this class to any card makers.   I will definitely be on the lookout for more classes from these instructors in the future!

Thanks for reading!  Have a great weekend!
