Olive Christmas

I made this card for a sketch challenge over at Stamping 411.  I like the way the texture is only on the top.  I have seen this on so many blogs, but this was my first time trying it.    Hope you like my card!

Pumpkin Thank You

I made this card for a friend of mine.  She recently support my son David's Cub Scout fundraiser, and I want her to know how much we appreciate it.  This was David's first time participating in the popcorn sales, and he set his goals high.  My friend quickly jumped in and said she'd help.  David didn't quite meet his goals this year, but he learned a lot - and is excited for next year when he can try again.  I also made this card for the inspiration challenge at Stampin' Celebration, and for the sketch challenge at CPS.  Let me know what you think!

I have been wanting to plan a game night party for my friends for a long time.  When I saw this weeks color challenge over at Just Us Girls, it screamed game night to me.  I know they were thinking more flowery - but all I could see was dominoes and parcheesi pieces.  I am very happy with how this turned out!  Now, I just have to find time to have the party.  Eh, maybe after the holidays!  Let me know what you think!

Simple Christmas

I made this card for a challenge over at PPA.  I *love* this fabric!!  I had a lot of fun making this card, I was able to use all of my new favorite things.  The Christmas tree from snow swirled, shimmer paint, fabric and crochet trim!  The challenge was to have a clean and simple card, that uses fabric or ribbon.  I'm not sure on the exact definition of clean and simple - so I'm not sure I qualify there - but I love how this turned out.

I had fun painting my Always Artichoke border with shimmer paint.  I also used the shimmer paint for the dots on the Christmas tree stamp.

Christmas Shimmer

I have missed my blog for the last couple days.  I have missed getting to know you.   Something smacked me, right in the face two days ago - I'm sure this won't be a surprise to you - but it was to me!  Did you know that thanksgiving is next week?!  As in, less than 7 days next week.  We have a bunch of people coming over - expecting a huge meal, that I am going to cook - in less than 7 days.  Ok, so I know that Thanksgiving comes every year, at the end of November - but geez!  I didn't realize we were at the end of November already!!  So, I have been researching recipes, doing test runs, and planning seating arrangements for the past couple days.  (Don't tell anyone - but my fall decorations weren't even up until yesterday!)  But, I think I am doing ok now, menu is done, seating is done, decorations are mostly done.  Now, I just need to do some cleaning - and we will be all set.  Do you host Thanksgiving dinner at your house?  If so, how early do you start cooking?

Ok - onto the important stuff!!  The card!  I made this card for a sketch challenge over at CPS - Card Sketches.  The one thing I love most about challenges is that they stretch you to do things that maybe you wouldn't normally do, something just a little bit out of your comfort zone.  That is what happened with this sketch.  I don't usually do very many square cards.  And for some reason, when I do make a square card, I usually make all of the other layers square too.

The sketch:

My card:

My favorite part is the shimmer painted dots on the christmas tree, and the shimmer paint on the background.

For my friend

I made this card for my friend.  I have been missing her a lot lately - and I wanted to remind her how much I love her.  For this card I put together the challenges on The Color Dare and Friday Mashup.  I was too late for posting my card for The Color Dare - I got sidetracked with a new CD in my craft room.  This is my first time doing a Friday Mashup challenge - they look fun!  This week was a great sketch.  What do you think of my card?

More Birthdays

We know so many people with birthdays coming up, and they *always* catch me by surprise!  I am trying to get ahead of the curve here, and be prepared.  I did this card for the PPA challenge.  When I first saw the inspiration photo, I thought it would be easy peasy to make a card.  WRONG!  I threw out 4 other cards before making this one.  I am very happy with how this turned out - simple and elegant.
