New Catalog Stamp Set - Convention 2015

I got home from Stampin' Up!'s convention last early last week.  I had such a wonderful time while I was there.  It is always so nice to catch up with demonstrator friends that I only see while at convention. I also really enjoy participating in organized swaps.

One swap I participated in was for new stamps sets out of the Idea Book & Catalog.  There are so many fabulous new sets to choose from, I had a hard time deciding which set to use.  Which new set is your favorite?

For this swap, I chose to use the hostess stamp set called Floral Wings.  I love this stamp set, and all the fun possibilities it has.  You can own this stamp set too, just by hosting a free workshop in your home, and having some fun crafty time with your friends!  Just send me a message, and I'd be happy to help you with that!
Here's the stamp set:

Here is the card I made:

I love how Cucumber Crush is such a bright green!  I think it really livens up the sometimes subdued Perfect Plum.

I also wanted to share my 3 favorite cards I received in that swap.  I was very impressed with the workmanship these other demonstrators showed on their cards.

The cards are not placed in any specific order.

The top card features the gorgeous new Definitely Dahlia background stamp.  I love this stamp!  I also love how her card has only one color to it.  Our new Watermelon Wonder In Color is fabulous, especially when mixed with this stamp.  This card also features the new Elegant Dots embossing folder.  I would love to tell you who made this card, sadly - we were not allowed to put our names on these cards, and there was no other identifiers in the envelope.

On the bottom left - we have a beautiful strong colored Wonderful Wings card made by my friend Jackie Bowman.  I just love this woman.  She is so very kind, and funny.  Sadly, I only get to see her when she's causing trouble in the swap lines at convention.  (Our little joke..)  For her card, she also featured the new Fluttering Embossing folder, Sahara Sand Lace Trim, English Garden Designer Series Paper, Butterfly Thinlits, Bold Butterfly Framelits, and the Triple Banner Punch.

Last, but certainly not least is the Marina Mist card, done by Dawn Haskell.  Dawn's card also features English Garden Designer Series Paper.  I love how the paper coordinates so well together, but when used separately you can end up with totally different looks!  This card also uses the Garden in Bloom stamp set. I love that this stamp set has such a soft watercolor kind of look to it.  Dawn has also used the new Lots of Labels Framelits.

Thanks so much for stopping by and checking out my swap cards!  I hope you have a fantastic day!!

ICS Blog Hop - Celebrate Dad

Welcome to the May Blog Hop!
This month we are all sharing Father's Day ideas.  My card showcases some retiring products.  This time of year is always bittersweet as a demonstrator.  I'm sad to see some great products retire, but so excited for the amazing products coming out very soon!

What do you do to celebrate Dad at your house?  We usually do something low key, with a home cooked meal that involves lots of bacon.  Lol!  So here is my project:

Now hop on over and see what my pals Nancy and Darla have to share with us!

ICS Blog Hop - Happy Mother's Day

Hey there!  Thanks so much for joining us for the April Blog Hop!  I hope you love all the Mother's Day inspiration that you've seen so far!  Be sure to go all the way through the hop for more great ideas.

I love Mother's Day.  For me, it is very special.  I love this dedicated day for telling other women what a great job they are doing with the loved ones in their lives.  I also love that it gives me a special chance to point out how awesome my Mom is.  My parents adopted me in high school.  I didn't make it easy for them.  But, they loved me anyways and my Mom especially continually showed an example of how love was supposed to look.  I wouldn't be the person I am today without her.

My card this month features the Mother's Love stamp set.  I am in love with this set.  I knew from the very first time I saw it that I had to have it, and that it would be one of the few sets I'd keep long after it retires.  I chose my color combination from the color coach.  I am always so pleasantly surprised at how much I love the combos that the coach suggests.

Today I have a fun little special for you.  One random person who leaves me a comment will receive a fun little gift from me.  I will be drawing the winner on Friday at 9am.  So, be sure to leave your comment before then!

Next up on our blog hop is my BFF, Jen.  I know she has something fabulous for us!

ICS Blog Hop - Spring is in the Air

Welcome to our March Hop!!  This month is all about spring!  Spring is such a fun season.  Animals wake up, plants start to sprout, and I can go back to wearing my capri's.  :)

This month I'm sharing a card I did for a swap last weekend.  I was able to attend a demonstrator event in Boise, Id with my BFF, Jen.  We had such a wonderful time!  I some fabulous demos, and made some new friends.  The card is super simple, and fast to recreate.

I got the idea for this card from a make-n-take at another event I attended.  I am in love with this Painted Petals set.  It is just so pretty, and easy to use!

The next stop in the hop is done by my lovely friend, Olivia.  I just know she has something fun in store for us!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Wax Paper Resist

Hello there, friends!  Thanks for stopping by.

Today, I am sharing two of the cards from my last Technique Night Class.  Technique Night is a class I offer every month.  We learn two new techniques, each with it's own instruction sheet, and we also make 4 cards.  (2 from each technique.)

One of the techniques we learned in February was Wax Paper Resist.  I had not done this technique before.  It was  lot of fun.  (Just be sure your iron isn't too hot, and that your ink pad is freshly inked!)

This is one of our wax paper resist cards.  I just love this.  I chose the color combination from the color coach.  I am surprised by that fabulous little tool each time I use it.  On the cards from the coach, I am often unsure of how it will all look together.  But then, once the card is finished, I am pleasantly surprised.  I was happy to use my new Ornate Tag Topper punch for the first time.  I love how using it on both ends makes this adorable shape, ready for mounting to any card!

This was our second card.  I love it for many reasons.  It uses some of my favorite products from the Occasions Catalog.  I just love the Happy Hearts embossing folder.  I love both sides of it, and always struggle on which side to pick.  LOL.  There is *no* wrong side to an embossing folder!  This card also features our new chalkboard paper, and chalk ink.  I really like how the chalkboard paper feels.  It is quite a bit heavier than our regular card stock, and on one side has a smooth finish that feels just like a chalkboard.  The inks are great too.  We have them in three colors right now; Aquamarine, Rose Coral, and Yellow Citrus.  For this card, I used the Rose Coral.  I love that these chalk inks have just enough color in them so you can tell it is there, but the ink is still opaque enough to really look like chalk.

You can see the opaque-ness of the chalk ink here in this photo.  It is just so fun to work with!

Well, that is all I have to share for today.  I hope you are having a great week so far!

Thanks for stopping by!

Here's what I used on the Awesomeness card:  (Plus Blushing Bride Ink used for the technique.)
