With Love

I created this card - very last minute for the Mojo Monday sketch challenge.  You can find all their fabulous sketches here.  Take a look at the sketch:

For my card I had lots of fun quickly coming up with a plan.  From the time I decided to do the challenge there was only 58 minutes until the deadline.  Here's what I came up with - hope you like it!!

Elegant Bouquet

My best friend in the whole world is having a Stampin'  Up Anniversary Party at her house to celebrate her 5 year anniversary as a SU Demonstrator.  (Go Jen!!)  I have been helping her think through her plans, and come up with ideas.  Jen makes gorgeous cards, but doesn't really do simple.  So, when she showed me her make n take idea - I suggested she do something that might be a little easier and faster for her customers to do.  I told her about a card I had made with the Elegant Lines embossing folder, but she doesn't have that one.  So, I have recreated the same card, with the Elegant Bouquet folder, so she could see what I meant.  Here is the card, let me know what you think! :)

Thank You Heros

I made this card a while ago, to send to troops overseas to thank them for all they are, & all they do.  It is a pretty simple card, and a CASE from the 10/11 IBC, but I wanted to do something to show my thanks.  I have made 63 of these so far, and when I get to 100, I will mail them off.

The reason why I don't have anything fun and exciting to show is because I am in the middle of reorganizing, and rearranging my craft room.  I'm excited about decluttering it some, and making it a bit more user friendly. Maybe when I'm done, I'll post some pictures.

I hope you are all having a good week so far.  Happy Hump Day! :)  The weekend is almost here!  I am gearing up this week for a weekend retreat with a close knit group of scrapping buddies next weekend.  I still need to finish up my little gifts, and make something for my secret sister.  Wish me luck!

One Sheet Wonder Cards

I am having so much fun working with OSW!!  Just in case you missed the last post, I was in a One Sheet Wonder swap in the VC Rocks group I belong to.  I received 10 fabulous pages of stamped images in return.  This first one I am working on was made by Diane Clark-Sutton.  I posted the first card last night, and today, so far, I have made four more.  I am halfway done with this sheet, and almost caught up on RAK challenges.  :)  I'm excited to work with the other sheets too... hopefully I'll get started on those tonight. Here is what I have so far.

OSW Card

Good evening everyone!  How are you all doing tonight?  I have missed you all, and this blog over the last week.  Believe me - I would much rather be here, playing with my paper.  In the last week, my son has shown me a lot of "I'm not a baby anymore."  From Friday to Sunday, he learned where babies come from, how to ride a bike without training wheels, and went to his first overnight camp - where he learned to shoot arrows and bb guns.  That is a little too much growing up at one time for this Momma.  The days before that were filled with preparations for said camp, and since I picked him up yesterday - I just can't stop myself from staring at him.  I can't believe how fast this is all happening.  Do any of you have a way of slowing down time?

Ok, on to the fun stuff.  A few weeks ago, I participated in a One Sheet Wonder Swap in the VC Rocks group.  I got back 10 fabulous sheets of cardstock.  I didn't really know very much about OSW's when I signed up for this swap, I actually had to look up directions on what to do.  I did my best, and I was satisfied with what I had done.  (Until the others came back... I don't think I filled mine in enough.)  I was so excited when the swap was returned with directions for cutting the sheets apart and making 10 cards out of it.

I decided that today was the day to start using those sheets.  I need lots of cards, I always need lots of cards. LOL  This is the first one I did.  The OSW was made by Diane Clark-Sutton.  I love the colors she chose!  I had no idea that I wanted this set, until this sheet came in the mail.  Now, I have to have it.

What do you think?

Baby Announcements, the first of many.

Ok, I suppose that title could be a bit deceiving.... no we are not having a baby.  While we both love children, we are done having kids, and this announcement post isn't to cause anyone to think otherwise.

Now, moving on - between Hans and I, we have 3 sisters, and 3 brothers.  Of those six siblings, 4 of them are expecting babies, three of them due in August this year.  That, is a lot of babies!  So, just know - you will probably see a lot of baby stuff on here for the next few months or so.

My beautiful sister - Christie.  With her first son Enrique, then not quite 2.  11/07

Today, I am going to share with you the baby announcements that I am making for my sister Christie.  She is expecting her second child, a boy, in the first half of August.  Now, unfortunately she lives all the way in Lincoln, Nebraska, so chances are, I won't be seeing this baby anytime soon.  (But there are rumors going around, plans trying to be made, to have her up here for one of the winter holidays!  Keep your fingers crossed for me!)  A few weeks ago, she sent me a text message picture of her crib bedding.  It is adorable!  It is bashful blue, certainly celery, not quite navy, wild wasabi, very vanilla and peach parfait.  (It is obvious that I live in a Stampin' Up! bubble, isn't it?  LOL)  It has frogs, snails, and turtles on it.  I wanted her announcements to coordinate with the theme of my new {and still nameless} nephew's room.  So, I was so excited to pull out one of my favorite sets of all time - Unfrogettable.  I know the set has retired, but I still love it - and it was perfect for what I needed.  Here is what I came up with:

I didn't think to take a picture of the inside - so maybe I'll do that and add it later.  But on the top of the inside is four of those clear photo corners, so she can insert a picture of the baby.  On the bottom I used the stamp from Bundle of Joy so there would be a place for her to put in all the important information (NAME!!) like time of birth, weight, and length.  This was my first real attempt at masking.  I have known how to do the technique for quite some time, just never used it.  I loved doing it on this card, with my brayer for the background.  I also have to say - I am in love with that pennant punch!  It is one of many new and fabulous items in the 2011/12 SU IBC.

Please - be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you think!

VC Rocks Blog Hop - Blog Candy Winner

Thanks to everyone who stopped by during the fabulous VC Rocks Blog Hop over the weekend!!  I hope you all had as much fun as I did.  There were so many fabulous projects, my new "to-do" list is about a mile long!

I am sorry that I am a little late in posting my blog candy winner.  I really appreciate every single comment left on my post.  We went to a bbq/party for my BIL's birthday yesterday afternoon.  We ended up staying much later than we planned on, and when we got home, we were exhausted.  Ok, ok, on to the winner.  Our winner is comment #8 - Brenda Hugar!!   Brenda, I really like Cherry Cobbler, and Wild Wasabi too.  I will get your prize out in the mail today.  Congratulations!!

Brenda said: "Love your "hat" box. The bling you added really made it pop.

My favorite color is Cherry Cobbler followed closely by Wild Wasabi.

VC Rocks July Blog Hop - Anything But a Card

VC Rocks!

Woo hoo!  I can't believe it is here!  It is time for the VC Rocks July blog hop!  Thank you so much for stopping by.  This is the first time I have ever participated in a blog hop, and I am just a little {over} excited.  VC Rocks is a fabulous group I belong to, full of fabulously talented stampers.  I have learned so much already being involved in the group.  We have lots of fun there with swaps, challenges, RAKS, and just good old girl talk.  While member registration is closed for this year, I strongly encourage you to check it out next year at the beginning of May.  Go check out the VC Rocks Blog.

Ok, on to the blog hop.  I have the pleasure of following Linda on the hop.  Linda does fabulous work, and gets plenty of help from her adorable stampin' buddy - Princess.  I haven't checked out her post for the hop yet, but so far my favorite project on her blog is the Father's Day card she did.  Be sure to check her out by clicking the button below for the previous blog!!

For my project, I knew almost immediately what I wanted to do with the ABC theme.  I have been making these scallop circle boxes for a while.  I like to call them hat boxes, because they remind me of old fashioned hat boxes.  I knew I would be wanting to make another one for this hop.  I have been in love with a stamp set from the brand new 2011/2012 Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalog called Delicate Doilies.  I love how soft and gentle it is.  I have also been dying to get my hands dirty with the new 2012 In Color Wisteria Wonder.  Since I had a stamp set, template, and color in mind, the box itself came together pretty quickly.

I did not come up with the original tutorial for this scalloped box on my own.  But, unfortunately, I do not remember where I found it, and google isn't much help tonight.   So please know, that while I did design this particular box myself, I got the idea from someone else.  If it was your idea - please let me know in the comments, so I can give you proper credit!

I hope you liked my creation!  Check below for a list of supplies used.  Here's the fun part - for the first time ever (Lucky you!) I am giving away blog candy!  I will send a special little treat to one person who leaves a comment telling me what you thought of my project, and what your favorite Stampin' Up! color is.  Currently, I am torn between Certainly Celery, which has been my favorite since it came out in 2005, and the new Wisteria Wonder.  You have until Sunday, July 10th at 10pm PST to leave your comment.  Sunday night I will use random.org to choose one winner.  The winner will be posted Sunday night, so be sure to check back to see if you won!

The next stop on the VC Rocks Blog Hop belongs to Debbie Martin.  She has lots of adorable things on her blog Clever and Cute, so be sure to check her out!  For the hop, she has posted a few gorgeous projects that I can't wait to try myself!!

Christmas in July! OWH Challenge

A friend of mine in a stampin' group I am a part of was a part of a blog hop last weekend for Operation Write Home.  Her cards were fabulous.  I hadn't heard of OWH before then.  You can check out their blog here. This week they have a challenge to make a Christmas card.  Every single year I am surprised when Christmas sneaks up on me, so I thought it'd be good to participate in this challenge.

The inspiration for my card came from a card I received in the in mail from my fabulous VC Rocks Roomie - Julie.  She sent me a card with the same kind of movement/layout.  As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to make one like it myself.

Leave me a comment - let me know what you think!  Also, be sure to check back this weekend.  I will be participating in the VC Rocks Blog Hop.  The theme is Anything But a Card, and there will be about 35 awesome projects for you to check out!

VC Rocks Challenge Card

This year, a friend referred me to a fast paced highly active group of stampers called VC Rocks.  I have loved being a part of that group.  There are so many genuinely talented, nice women in that group.  The have a challenge every week.  The challenges always sound fun, but we have been too busy at our house for me to participate.  This week I was determined!  So, yesterday when the challenge was posted - I got started right away.  The challenge was to make a card that was mostly black and white, with a bright color pop.  My color pop is of course the flower.  That big flower was made using quite a few of the stampin' up paper daisies.  I learned to make flowers like this at a crop I attended.  I am pretty happy with the way it turned out - what do you think?
